If you would like to request an exemption for a vehicle from one of our School Streets, please state which location and answer the questions below. Please note you will be asked to support your request with evidence.
To improve air quality, reduce road danger and encourage active travel, we will only provide exemptions for certain groups of motorists:
- resident or business with an address within the restricted zone (max 2 exemptions per property)
- Residents or businesses within a School Street, who are also Blue Badge holders, can nominate up to two vehicles for which they are not the registered keeper. This is in replacement of (and not addition to) exemptions where you are the registered keeper. For example, you may apply for one exemption for a vehicle that you own and apply for another exemption for a vehicle that is owned by a friend who cares for you. This policy is to enable residents and businesses who hold a blue badge but rely upon others for car transport. Applications should be made under the 'resident' or 'business' exemption criteria (and not under the Blue Badge criteria)
- Blue Badge holders who require access to the street (eg if visiting friends, family, a business or the school)
- school buses or vehicles used in the transport of children and adults with special access needs (application must be made by the school)
- medical practitioners attending those with an address within the restricted zone
If you do not meet the above criteria we ask that you do not apply for an exemption and consider alternative ways to reach your destination.
